Dr.techn.Olav Olsen AS is an independent structural and marine engineering company founded in 1962. The company is engaged in consulting, design and engineering for the Norwegian and International Oil & Gas Industry, Civil construction and Infrastructure. HiPRWind is an important part of our expanding activity into renewables.

Specific competence is aimed at structural consultancy on areas of extraordinary technical challenges – specifically related to alternative design and construction methods, structural systems and foundations. Typical assignments include industrial multidisciplinary projects, for Norwegian and international clients, where interface co-ordination and management may be part of the assignment.

With NOK189 million turnover, our markets are all over the world such as the North Sea, Far East, Australia, Western Africa, Gulf of Mexico, Eastern Canada and the Barents Sea.  We have designed platforms for the most severe seismic, wave and ice exposure.

With more than 40 years of experience, we currently have about 95 employees whereof 75 are PhD, M.Sc. and B.Sc. Engineers.The company has a unique experience within concept development, being the architect of several of the world’s largest and most impressive structures. On some occasions OO has built companies around its concepts, often in collaboration with others of complimentary skills and strengths. We have experience from offshore projects, bridges, quays, commercial buildings, residential buildings, schools, sports arenas and other public buildings. We also have significant experience in project administration, such as project management, design management and construction management.

In HiPRWind, Dr.techn. Olav Olsen is participating in WP1 and WP4, being involved in the floater conceptual design including structure and mooring. This work includes the development of a spread sheet based design tool that will be used as a basis for concept optimization, and a source for input to analysis models. The scope of work entrusted to Olav Olsen has been expanded during the first years of the project as a sign of recognition of the company's expertise and key role in achieving a successful design.
